Work Smarter with the 2024 Silverado EV WT

Work Smarter with the 2024 Silverado EV WT

While the Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition made headlines with its high-performance features, the 2024 Silverado EV WT is here to revolutionize work trucks. Designed specifically for fleet customers, this model introduces electrification to the workplace, combining the innovations of the Silverado EV with practical features tailored for heavy-duty use.

Powertrain and Performance

The Silverado EV WT is built on the same Ultium platform as the rest of the Silverado EV lineup, featuring a 24-module battery pack that provides an impressive range of up to 400 miles. Although it shares a two-motor setup with the RST, the WT offers 510 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque, a decrease from the RST's 664 horsepower and 780 lb-ft. The WT also omits the Wide Open Watts (WOW) setting, prioritizing fleet safety and compliance over high-speed performance.

Charging and Power Distribution

Equipped with DC fast-charge capability of up to 35 kW, the Silverado EV WT can add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. It features up to 10 outlets, including one 120-volt outlet in the eTrunk, another 120-volt outlet in the center console, and four 120-volt outlets in the bed, plus a single 240-volt outlet. The optional PowerBase power bar accessory adds two additional 120-volt outlets and another 240-volt outlet. With the ability to export up to 10.2 kW of power, the Silverado EV WT can charge other electric vehicles or power various tools and equipment on the job site.

Interior and Comfort

Focused on fleet functionality, the Silverado EV WT’s interior is more utilitarian compared to the consumer-grade RST. It features a sleek all-black color scheme, an 11-inch center screen (down from the RST’s 17-inch), and a 7-inch reconfigurable driver's display (compared to the RST's 8-inch screen). The WT also opts for a durable metal roof instead of the RST’s glass roof, catering to practical needs over luxury.

Towing and Hauling

The Silverado EV WT is designed to handle demanding tasks, featuring essential towing and hauling capabilities. It includes Tow/Haul mode, hitch provisions, an integrated trailer brake controller, and Hitch Guidance on the main screen. Although the towing capacity is 8,000 pounds—less than the RST’s 10,000 pounds—a future version of the Silverado EV will offer a 20,000-pound towing capability. The 5-foot, 11-inch bed lacks the Multi-Flex midgate found in the RST, reducing its payload capacity to 1,200 pounds. However, Chevrolet plans to offer a range of accessories to enhance the truck's functionality for work purposes.

Cost and Availability

The Silverado EV WT is available now, with a base price of $39,990 plus a destination charge of $1,695. This competitive pricing is in line with the Ford F-150 Lightning, which offers a higher payload capacity of 2,000 pounds. However, the Silverado EV WT stands out with its superior range, increased towing capability, and higher power output compared to the Lightning.

Assembled at GM's Detroit Factory ZERO at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center, the Silverado EV WT marks a significant advancement in integrating electric vehicles into the professional landscape. With its practical features and robust design, the Silverado EV WT is set to become a game-changer for fleet operators transitioning to electric vehicles.
