Diehl Automotive and Glimmer of Hope Fight for a Cure
Diehl Automotive is proud to announce that, for every new or pre-owned vehicle sold in October at any Diehl store, $50 will be donated to Glimmer of Hope, one of the premier breast cancer foundations in Pennsylvania!
Over the years, Diehl Automotive has donated $95,750 to Glimmer of Hope, a Pittsburgh-based breast cancer foundation which was started by Diana Napper in 1994 to honor the wishes of her best friend, Carol Jo Weiss Friedman, who lost her battle with the disease in 1990.
Incredibly, 100% of those funds donated have gone to programs, centers, and equipment, helping thousands of Pennsylvania women get the treatment and support they need.
Diehl Automotive's donations have went to purchase an ABUS machine Allegheny Health Network. This state-of-the-art machine can be used to detect additional cancer in women where mammography alone may be insufficient due to their greater breast density. ABUS is a quick and painless way to effectively image a dense breast.
Diehl Automotive contributions have also supported the Home for Hope. This is a designated space for integrative health services at the Wexford Health and Wellness pavilion and West Penn Hospital. This pilot program is specifically for women under 40; this allows study of breast cancer more effectively and provides better outcomes for patients. The Home for Hope includes acupuncture, massage therapy, and childcare.
In addition, Diehl donations are supporting Glimmer of Hope’s biggest achievement: the opening of the The Glimmer of Hope Metastatic Breast Cancer Center at AHN in October 2020. This center will centralize the care for metastatic breast cancer patients, decrease waiting room time, increase quality oflife, and will allow for clinical trial screening at both AHN and Johns Hopkins Cancer Institute in one visit.
Diehl Automotive is proud of our donations, but even more proud of the work and dedication of our friends at Glimmer of Hope. Please help us support Glimmer of Hope this October. Remember, we’ve only just begun the fight!
